Hey Sine, Welcome.
Don't let that camera intimidate you. Read all you can about it. Start with the manual. Use the simple settings at first and advance from there.

Not the best teacher in the world, but it's a start.
Just keep in mind... The cost of ONE digital snapshot in the camera is exactly as the cost of 500. Take the same picture a lot of times with different settings and compare the results.
