That's a tough one. I find the Nikon 18-200 to be a very nice everyday/travel lens but a poor portrait lens. For portraits I would go with a Nikon 50mm 1.8G or Nikon 60mm 2.8G for portraits. A lot of people use the Nikon 70-200 2.8 for portraits but that is very pricey. I use the Nikon 35mm 1.8G for a lot of my portrait shots and love it. Most will say buy both the 35mm 1.8G and the 50mm 1.8G because they are so cheap. Pedroj really nailed it, it depends on a lot of factors especially budget.
