The in your face Engine 1989 juxtaposed against the jet contrail in the sky...incredible!

The cloud way in the picture near the vanishing point almost looks like an old locomotive coal cloud blowing from some Engine just down around the bend...

The HDR is just first rate...I've been meaning to ask you what kind of spreads you've been using...

This one is WAY superior to the one in your project thread...it is a keeper...it is a showstopper...

I bet you had that lens zoomed wide too because there is incredible depth in the photo...

THe exif shows 16mm @ f9.

As you can see Jeff, the zoom lenses aren't all that different from the old primes. Nikon are glass specialists…

Thanks Jeff! The smoke and jet were a bonus afterwards. In working on composition, I'm trying to capture more secondary subjects by not zooming in too much.

This is well done Rick. Your exposure, focus & composition is right on the mark. The HDR is well done without being overpowering. I like that you didn't overdo the vignette around the frame. I would remove some of the power line visible in the frame. Well done!

Stunning image Rick! I can't say much that hasn't already been said but I especially love that the train appears to be popping right off the page. The colouring is perfect too!

I don't think the exif or the lens or the glass masters of Nikon had anything much to do with this one other than the platform really...I think it is all RAM sir!!! Proof that gear probably doesn't have to much to do with it! (Maybe I should say the latest and greatest gear) Bye and bye it is a must print... :) :) :)

Thanks Jeff! But I gotta give some credit to the gear, the 16-85 really is an awesome lens in it's class. Probably the sharpest non-pro nikon mid range zoom.
