My camera is making noises!!

Ok so don't everyone laugh at once... My camera is making odd noises when I press the shutter half way. Now because the motors are inside the lens, does the shutter being depressed make an electronic noise to start the lens focusing? I don't use the beep and tonight while my toddler sleeps I was shooting his stuffed cookie monster. CM is a very quiet model, and I was able to hear the noise I described. Please tell me two things...
1. I am not nuts...
2. My camera is NOT broken.

Yes, the focus motor makes noise and so does the VR function on equiped lenses.

Let's take #2 first - like Rick said...those camera sounds are normal.

As far as issue #1 is concerned? Well the jury is still out on that one! LOL!
