The SB700 is newer than the SB800, but it doesnt mean better. It really depends on your usage.

Like i said, that's just me. :) I think the SB-700 is much easier to use than either the 800 or the 900. And of course the newest SB-910 is much more expensive then either of them.

While I agree that the SB-700 replaced the SB-600, I personally think the SB-700 is a better alternative to the SB-800. Like I said...just a personal opinion. Others may vary. :)

I have a SB800 and love it, $315 is a great price. I want another one or a SB900. I use my SB800 for fill so have it down from full to 3/4 or 1/2 power and at the lower power settings it will recycle as fast as you can hit the shutter, even faster with external battery pack.

I agree with Jack. I have both the SB 900, 800 and 600. Control and power wise, the SB 900 is just a lot more easier to use. SB800 has an effective range of 105mm; SB700 - 120mm. SB800 with the 5th battery will recycle much faster, almost as fast as the SB 900. @$315 USD, I think that is a fair price.
