Nikon just came out with EDG VR85 Fieldscope. I see a camera can be added to the fieldscope giving the camera a pretty good range.I am wondering about the quality of one of these. Since most of my photographs are stationary would one of the fieldscopes work out. It is not cheap but less then the 400mm or 500mm nikon lens.

Assuming your landscape images are taken during the day, you should have enough light to compensate for the slower shutter speeds caused by the small aperture opening. I was investigating the idea until I found out that the 800mm range came with a cost of f/11 aperture.
