You should call your home owner's insurance and see with them. Different companies have different policies. But it is imperative that you check with them. You might have to pay a fee for accidental damage or loss and the amount will vary with the deductible you have.

My friend's wife just lost her canon G5 X and their home insurance paid for replacement less the deductible.

I have a supplemental policy with State Farm and it is $1.60 per hundred. I have never needed it but if i ever do it will be worth every penny I have paid.

Are you using your gear for income, or purely as a hobby? If just a hobby, the home insurance is the way to go.

Check out getting a rider policy for all of your valuable that you wish to insure. Also be mindful, that your motor vehicle insurance may need to be changed to cover photo gear.
