So here's my background - I'm an occasional D7000 user, primarily for family and fun. Last night was our seasons last home high school football game and my daughter is in band. I brought my trusty D7000 and 55-200mm (longest zoom I have) as I normally do for some shots of the band and action shot practice. I quickly realized though I had a problem - I could not get the focus point to move from upper left (I normally shoot in manual mode with a single focus point.) No matter what I tired, I could not get it to move. First I thought the multi-selector button was broke, but it worked fine running through the menus. I pulled the battery, reconnected the lens, changed to single focus (it's normally on AF-C with back-button focus setup), all to no avail. I finally took a few more shots and gave up for the night
I pulled it out of the bag this morning and instantly saw the focus selector lock switch set to "L." Rotated it to the "." and presto instantly fixed!
That's what I get for thinking I knew the ins-and-outs of my D7000 - I overlooked something so simple. Guess it's a learning experience...
