Updating firmware

I have just update the firmware on my camera, so do i also have to update the firmware for the nikon lens also?

At the moment you can not update any firmware on the Nikon lenses,

They have started to do it on "some" sigma lenses by using a usb dock, but nothing for the Nikon lenses.

If you can, make sure your editing software is up to date, so it has the latest lenses information.

Thanks Paulo4, i have one sigma lens so might have a look at that. im using PS & LR cc so its all up to date

Have a look at this link for the sigma dock, as it show which lens can be updated,
I have the sigma 17-50mm which is not on the list at the moment.

Were you talking about the distortion control lens data in the camera? That's a separate update file. I think most people keep that function turned off in the camera, but no harm in updating it if you want. It is not dependent on the main firmware.

I mentioned above that the lens data was not dependent on the main firmware, but this article says to be sure to update that first. However, it is ok to never update the lens data if you don't use it and just update the main firmware.
