My wedding assistant used her D7200 with her 24-70 f2.8 perfectly well for years. The Nikon version of the lens is a cracker and due to there being a new VR version of it, can be found a bit cheaper than usual.

What do you mainly shoot?

Are you wanting to get another lens to get more length or wider or faster or.... ? I use the 18-55 and like it for what it is. I use it on the D5300 which works well for what I use it for. I have the D7100, but for whatever reason, I haven't had anything on it except the 70-300 VRII. It all depends on your shooting styles, I would imagine. To give you a good answer, let us know what you want to achieve.

For something close to your 18-55mm, but faster and sharper, consider the Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 EX DC OS HSM. If you want a little more reach, and assuming you're willing to give up a little something on the wide-end, consider the Tamron SP 24-70mm F2.8 Di VC USD.

It would be great to know what you shoot mostly and your style of shooting.

But in saying that the 24-70 f/2.8 would be a great choice.

Thanks for all your replies, yes it think its something faster like a 2.8 that id like as my go to lens so as im not really changing to the 35mm to get that nice bokeh.
