What mode were you shooting in, I see your shutter speed and f-stop were all over the place? In manual mode, select f5.6 and you don't need to change that setting. It will give you enough depth of field for pretty well every event. On sunny days you can set your ISO at 400 and then you just have to adjust your shutter speed as needed. For outdoors I wouldn't go lower than 1/640 and try and maintain it higher if possible. At 1/640 you'll still have blur (movement) at the outer extremities. If it's bright and sunny you can easily shoot at a -.3 compensation which cuts down on glare from white cowboy hats and shirts.
