AC power problem

I am using my 7200 for time lapse stretching over five days. Obviously the regular battery won't work, so I am using the Nikon battery substitute that gets power from the mains. This has always worked well when I have used it for shorter (4-5 hours) periods. Now I am getting a consistent problem that is making the time-lapse impossible. After approximately 20 hours the camera shows an error: the Battery icon is flashing and appears empty. If I unplug the battery, and then plug it back in, everything reverts to normal but will show the same problem after another 20 hours.

does anyone have a suggestion as to what is happening and a solution?

I have never dealt with AC power for my cameras so not much help. Is the adapter Nikon OEM or 3rd party?

It is all Nikon, so there should be no compatibility issues.

What does the manual have to say about this? Also many times there are links to Nikon community forums on the nikon site on specific parts like this. If no one here has an answer you might want to try that.
