Nikon MC-36 broken cable - help

Hi all;

I've just bough a second hand Nikon MC-36 remote shutter release cord which has the 10 pin end broken off. Does anyone know if the actual cord can be removed or replaced from the top of the actual MC-36 unit allowing a new cable to be inserted ?

Thanks;

I don't know, but if the plastic shell can be opened, then surely so, if you can find a cable. There can't be more than about 3 wires in it, for half press (focus), full press (shutter), and ground.

But my notion is that it probably isn't worth much trouble. Check Amazon and/or Ebay for several clone versions, probably $20, maybe $30 US. Search Amazon for Neewer MC-36 or Yongnuo MC-36. These seem exactly identical to Nikon, and they work. Or search Ebay for Nikon MC-36, which will include those and more.
