D5300 does not have focusing motor in the body, unlike your D80. The closest replacement in Nikon lineup for your camera would be D7200.

The lack of focusing motor means that your lenses need to be AF-S models (or HSM in Sigma parlance) to be able to autofocus, otherwise you'll have to resort to manual focusing.

Looks like your 50mm and 17-35mm will only manual focus on D5300. Otherwise they are compatible though.

If I were you I would consider either a D7200 (or a lightly used D7000 or D7100 if budget is restricted).

The other but different solution would be a full frame Nikon D750 (again a lightly used D700, D800 or D610 if budget is tight) but your 55-200 won't be fully compatible with full frame, it is a crop-sensor-only lens).

Welcome to our Nikonites family! I would suggest a refurbished D7100 for under $500.00, that would handle the lenses you have! :)

All has been covered, the D7xxx range really is the way to do if you want to go Crop Sensor, welcome along !!

Howdy and welcome to Nikonites!

As an owner of both the D5300 and D7100, I gotta say you'll find better lens compatibility with the D7x00 vs the D5x00s.
