I live in a suburb of Dallas. Would like to learn some techniques for improving my camera skills. For example - how to photograph Sunday's lunar eclipse? I am excited to find this forum.

Thanks. I don't have any special equipment other than the Nikon D 3300 with the standard 18-55 millimeter lens and a telephoto 55-200 millimeter lens. But I'm sure those links will help me find a compromise solution.

200 mm will give a moon that fills about 1/9 of the picture height. That's not unreasonable if the picture also includes significant landscape view.

Or, this picture height is 4000 pixels on the D3300. If you crop it tightly, to say 1000 pixels (for the computer monitor), that enlarges it to 4x size, to approach 1/2 of picture height. Also reasonable.
