Fine tuning a lens for the D7100

or any other camera for that matter ...

Am I fine-tuning the lens to match the camera or am I fine-tuning the camera to match a lens?

The reason I ask is if I decide to sell a "tuned" lens should I reset it to "0" or does it make no difference on the next body that it will be used on?

AF Fine Tuning data is stored in the camera body, not the lens.

Unless you're using the Sigma dock which tunes the lens by updating lens firmware.

Which lens are you selling? I'm in the market for a lens.

Well now that is a good question.

I am trying to sell my D5100 body as well as my 18-105mm and potentially my 70-300mm to fund a decent wide angle (Sigma 10-20mm?) and possibly a more versatile walk around lens - I had a look at the Tamron 16-300 today and it aint half bad.

None of those lenses would suit you even if shipping wasn't a killer.

However the bad news is nobody wants to give me a reasonable price for my D5100.

Life goes on rewardless. :)
