Shooting firefly's?

Curious if anyone has any good advice on shooting firefly's. I just went out and made a quick attempt as I noticed they were rather thick tonight. I stopped down to f22, ISO 100, and went with a 30s exposure hoping they would be bright enough to make it in to the photo, but no luck. Do I need to take shorter photo's with a little wider aperture and higher ISO, maybe 2s shots? The shorter the shot, obviously the harder to time when they are going to light up, maybe only getting a couple per photo. I suppose in PS there would be a way that I could stack a bunch of of photo's to make it look like a bunch are lit up at the same time?

You would need to bump up the iso and use a large aperture f/2.8 or greater, use manual focus and lots of luck. It can be done but not easy.

Yeah I was hoping to get them streaking as they fly. Doesn't seem they are bright enough to make the shot setup for a longer exposure. I also don't want to expose the background much I'd like to keep it dark.
