JPEG saving and consequences.

I was playing around a bit and decided to "load/save as" a JPEG multiple times to check what happens.

Here are 4 shots; I each time loaded the previous and saved it as a new version using no editing whatsoever. Just load and then save as: max quality each time.

When I noticed the file size increased each time I decided to check the differences between the first and the last version.

I used a selection mode to make the differences more visible:

I have to say I was amazed that saving a JPEG that quickly has serious consequences even when not directly visible.

I repeated the process (3 saves) but this time saved as JPEG quality 9/12 in PS. I often used this quality setting for my saves.
