Have you tried to turn the auto iso off in the shooting menu? My D800E is my first experience with auto iso other than my D3100 and D5100! They might have been on auto and I never noticed!lol
It isn't from auto ISO, Bill. I changed the ISO so it can be set manually, but the problem is still there.
Have you seen this:
D750: change settings without screen turning on: Nikon FX SLR (DF, D1-D4, D600-D800) Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review
I don't have the camera to try it. Not sure if this is a 3 finger endeavor or if they mean half press the shutter then move on to the wheel. They also mention it doesn't happen when easy iso is selected. Maybe Nikon will make a firmware fix if enough people complain.
No, I hadn't see this so thanks, Nick. Here's my thought...I don't like the display turning on because with the frequency that I change my ISO, I can foresee it draining the battery not to mention how it may adversely affect the display of the rear screen in the long run. Pressing the shutter halfway makes the shutter button work that much more so how would it affect the shutter button down the road?
One more observation on the D750...did Nikon aim this camera's use at an older generation? Sheesh...the top display has really large lettering...for the visually impaired perhaps? Even the lettering on the rear screen is overly large.
I never tried if you can assign ISO to a button like I did with the D3300 but if, that would seem an easier solution than the 3 finger move.
No I haven't. With my luck, I'd forget which button was assigned for ISO then I'd be making all kinds of changes to other settings if I hit the wrong button! :stupid: I accidentally did that with when I switched from my D610 to the D7100. The ISO button is located in a different spot, and in the dark I accidentally hit the QUAL button which changed my RAW setting to a smaller size. Maybe that's why Nikon opted to turn on the rear screen while making changes so people can see what they're doing. However, in my case the balcony where I was standing was pitch black. I couldn't even see my hand in front of my face. Assumed I made the right move but wasn't looking through the viewfinder either.
Hopefully a firmware update will address this issue.
Thanks for all the replies.
