Looking to buy a telephoto lens for my husbands bday but i'm a noob when it comes to photography. Which one is better and why?
He has a D5200 and wants to take pics of deer, butterflies, birds, insects, moon etc

Thanks

Its hard to say for that price range but eventually I want to get a 150-600 but that's ~$900-$1000.

I would definitely get the 300 over the 200 though.

These are a few I have taken with the 55-300mm. As far as I remember none are cropped or edited.

Abe's of Maine? (Actually in NJ) Google some reviews before ordering from them.
Isn't Abe's pretty much all grey-market all the time? Not that there's anything wrong with grey-market; as long as you know/understand what you're getting...

And NOT getting, of course.

Yes. I bought from them years ago. Might have been different owners back then. I've seen a number of more recent reviews saying they call and try to up-sell.
