End of Wet Season controlled burn

Well it is that time of year where we start fires to burn away the spear grass that has grown 10+ft in some places.
This provides a bounty of food for whistling kites and black kites who as it has been told will pick up a burning stick and drop it where nothing is burning so that the insects will take flight.

Was down in North Carolina last year around Wilmington. You could see and smell smoke from 20 miles away. They were burning sections of land filled thick brush, weeds. A controlled burn. Thought that was interesting.
