New from Alaska.

Hello! New to the picture taking and the forum!! I've taken my first round of pictures without using any auto features...boy what a humbling experience! Please feel free to let me know what you think! I originally had 61 pictures to post but these were the 30 that made the cut!

*Note* I am aware that some of the pictures have quite a bit of noise due to my shakey hand!! I'm still in the lookout for the "right tripod." Im looking for something light that I can dual use for photography and as a hunting spotting scope tripod. Any leads would be appreciated! Thank and happy snapping!

Welcome. You live in a beautiful state with so much to offer photographically. Some of your shots are really nice and with some editing you could really elevate them to a whole new level. But, photography is a constant evolution of learning. Keep it up.

And I really suggest shutting off the time stamp. Nothing takes away from a photo worse than that glaring time stamp. The date is actually recorded in the exif data of the file.

Looks like you may be struggling with your white balance some but you have some that are spot on and that's about as well as many of us do most of the time. Looking forward to more of your posts.

Greetings, Try to get some Aurora shots in before it's too late

I'm a bit too far south! I'm in southeast for the summer but will head north in the fall, by then I should be quite a bit more knowledgable. Or at least I'd hope!

True, I had to fly up to Fairbanks to complete my bucket list. They kept "almost showing up" so after waiting till 4 am and being stiffed again I told my assistant to book me tickets to the far north. Fortunately I got my shots the first 2 nights. After that a storm moved in.

Yeah, those damn NL are one finicky you know what!!! When you're not looking for them they're dancing the night away!

A good post processing program (e.g. Lightroom) could really make those photos sparkle. There are trails and free software options out there, if its too much of an investment right now. Welcome along..
