When using my d7000 the first spot my camera tries to focus is on the right. I can have a subject directly in front of me with no other distractions and my camera still cant find the subject. I have been pulling my camera to the right to focus on my subject then frame my photo how I had it to get it to focus properly. Im using single point AF with the 39 focal points. Not sure why it wont read it. Thanks

Why not just press the round jog wheel to move the single focus point to the center...???
When your camera is set to 9 or 21 or 51 or the focus point you select is only a bias not exactly the point it measures at.... If a point next to it has better contrast or if the camera figures out its better it biases towards that or in most cases it uses the selected point plus interpolation like matrix metering uses the full frame to evaluate focus... IF YOU WANT ONLY 1 focus point you MUST use only single AF (setting with an "S" ) !!
