D7100 and Di866 on a remote cord

Hi,
I just got a Di866 Mk1 and discovered it works fine on my D7100 when placed on the hotshoe. However, when I use a cord to move the flash off the shoe, the D7100 does not recognize the flash is there. It will fire the flash in manual mode, but no other mode will work.
I have tried an SC-17 and an SC-29 Nikon cords. Anyone else tried the Di866 and D7100 with a cord?

Problem solved. Bought a RPS STUDIO SC-29 cord for 1/2 the price of the Nikon SC-29 and it works just fine in all flash modes.
