looking at the comparison on dp site the tamron is looking wonderful.

Prepare to be impressed: Tamron 15-30 F2.8 vs. Nikon 14-24 F2.8: Digital Photography Review

that nikon is amazing since its held its title for so many years without a challenger. this tamron seems like its going toe to toe and besting it in different situations.

tamron and sigma have been offering some really amazing lenses as of late and im positive its affecting nikons sales and non stop bearish quarterly revenues and stock being the lowest for more than 3 years now.

I salute them for delivering some amazing equipment. im waiting a bit till for fear of any QC issues. ive looked at every lens out there below 24mm for a long time to replace my tamron 17-35 2.8-4 and this fits it all. price performance features.

It's a nice beefy lens for sure. Had a chance to hold one at WPPI this week, however due to work conflicts I didn't get a chance to spend much time and fire off any shots with it. However, if it is like any of Tamron's lenses as of late... they may have a winner here.

Those are the results I was hoping for. Thanks for sharing. I think I'll wait too for any QC issues AND for the Nikon rebate to go away so I can put my 16-35mm f4 on the market. ;)

Oh man, those results are really good! Cameralabs also has an almost-finished review up & the findings are similar. I'd probably order one right now if I could find one at a legit dealer for no more than MSRP.

Well, I have one on order. Spent the past couple of nights going through a few thousand photos taken with the 16-35. I bought the 16-35 primarily for the 16mm end of the zoom, but after correcting for distortion, that 16 turns into a 17 or 18. My biggest beef with it though, again at 16mm, is the horrid corner softness. I know some people don't care & will say that's normal, but it isn't when compared to the 14-24 and 15-30. I had to crop many shots just to get rid of the soft corners, which really defeated the purpose of having a "wide angle" lens. I'm heading out of town in 6 weeks & will be using a wide angle for more than 50% of my shooting, so I hope mine arrives in time. Guess it's about time for an image sample thread.

I'm hoping I will be able to spare an hour on a weekend once I get the lens to run a series of comparison shots between the 15-30 and the 16-35. I'm sure a few people might be interested in that.

In case anyone was wondering how it compared size-wise to a few different lenses.
From left to right: Nikon 24-120/f4, Nikon 16-35/f4, Tamron 15-30/f2.8, Tamron 70-200/2.8, Tamron 150-600
From left to right: 670g, 680g, 1100g, 1470g, 1950g

It definitely feels lighter than the 70-200, and pretty close to the 16-35. It is quite a bit bulkier though.
