Ok background I am 14(will be 15) and I finally saved up enough money from side jobs and finally my birthday to get a d7000 (I ordered it yesterday)

OK so my equipment before I take reccomendations

Bodies
Nikon d7000
Nikon d3100

Lenses
Nikkor 35mm f1.8
Nikkor 55-200
Nikkor 18-55

General equipment
I have 2 umbrella lights
24 inch tabletop cyclorama
Pico dolly
2 standard tripods

Extras
Cheap flash
Remote shutter
Time lapse shutter thingy

Sound
Blue snowball

OK so I need to upgrade my setup for my youtube channel and I would like some pointers from you.

Tech Clash

To start I know I need a new mic for when I'm in front of the camera.

I'm torn between the benefits and drawbacks of either a zoom h1 or a rode videomic.

I also need better lighting any really cheap diy setups or techniques.

Any General Pointers of stuff I need.

Also I got a USB otg cable so I can use my tablet as a camera monitor. The d3100 won't show live view when connected but I'm pretty sure the d7000 can.

Thx in advance.

Im not a video guy but Ive heard that VR lenses & good glass are a great asset. Also a lesson I learned, get the right equipment the first time. Good luck & best wishes young fella.

Congratulations on the purchase. I don't use my D7000 for video but you might want to consider David Busch's book on the D7000. Have you thought about what SD cards you might need? Brand? Capacity?
