70-200mm

My D700 has eight contacts, the 70-200mm has 10. What am I not getting out of my lens?

The purpose of pins 9 & 10, if memory serves, are unknown.

Thank you 480sparky for your reply. The reason I asked is because I am borrowing an 80-400 (older version) and the lender suggested I should check to see my camera had 10 contacts. If not I could use the lens in manual focus. I've never counted contacts before so I did, and then noticed my 70-200 had 10 but it works perfectly. If you care to elaborate any, I could fake a death blow.
