Dark Side of the Photo

Ok, so I was at Fan Expo taking some shots for fun of all the people/cosplayers, and everything else when I was at the Playstation booth of the gaming section and noticed that the side of my photos had a sort of dark shade on them. Being an amateur I couldn't figure out what was going on. Might have been the pop-up flash? And yes I used the pop-up flash because I was unable to use my SB-700.

Oh well, gotta learn the hard way sometimes. :p

Could be anything from the strap to a finger. I has similar pics all with a shadow. Now I know to 'cradle' the lens and not hold it like a microphone. Hah!

If shot in portrait which it looks like it was. Looks to me like the barrel of the lens got in the way. Or a finger laying on top of the lens. Some people hold the lens with their thumb on the bottom and fingers on the top.

That was actually taken in portrait and my fingers were on top of the lens so that must be it.
