The D610 lists the following:

39 focus points (including 9 cross-type sensors; the center 33 points are available at apertures slower than f/5.6 and faster than f/8, while the center 7 focus points are available at f/8)

51 focus points (including 15 cross-type sensors; f/8 supported by 11 sensors)

What are "cross-type" sensors?

Why are various autofocus points only available at certain apertures?

I thought that was the case regarding speed of focus-lock/low light focus but I wasn't sure... But hey, this much alcohol before noon what do you expect??
