I set up a sports setting for U1 and it worked- but one of the settings for U1 was changing the dial to CH...I was hoping that it would save in the U1 setting but that setting did not. Did I do something wrong- or does the bottom dial not save on the User settings 1 and 2. (everything else saved)

You need to have the model dials in CH if you plan to use that mode. I leave mine it that mode all the time. So for u1 it's ch and U2 is ch, but they are setup differently, in the sense of focusing, auto ISO and such. So basically. It stays on CH unless I need something else. U1 and U2 are copied from manual settings but the dial doesn't move from Ch, if that makes sense.
