d7000 + 80-200 2.8 2-Ring

Does anyone use this combination successfully? I've read that the D7000 can have focus issues with this lens but I have a killer opportunity to purchase it inexpensively.

I've got the 80-200 f2.8D and it is the lens I use the most, even shooting portraits standing back and zoom in - awesome bokeh. No focus problems for me. For me it is fast and does not hunt as I experienced with the Tamron 70-200 f2.8 (A001). Awesome value and plan to use it for a long time.

Sorry, something more - any focus issues/challenges is the D7000 not the 80-200. But you have to know your D7000 and work with the focus limitations.

This is true. My primes are all tack sharp after fine tuning. Hopefully that will be true with the 80 to 200.

I shoot with the 80-200mm 2.8D w/2-rings and the lens and auto focus are great.
