I've seen test forums on boards before with the purpose that newer members could play around with different options more or less with no expectation of a discussion.
Play with fonts or colors, sizes, etc. to see how they work.
Post pics different ways, etc.
Play with smiles

And not have to learn in a thread where folks are discussing something.
The test threads are usually auto-deleted after a week or two.
