D5300 Viewfinder Display ?

New to the D5300 (Nikon also). In the viewfinder display in the position which displays the number of exposures remaining, when I push the shutter release 1/2 way the display changes to r09 from the 1.0k. I have looked through the manual (printed and CD version) and can't seem to find what the r09 is telling me. Really more curiosity on this than anything here. I do feel that the manual is lacking in many areas. I have found more information online than in the manual, but I can't figure this out. TIA

Never mind, I found it thanks to the thread on viewing the metadata info. I was not aware of the reference manual. I had only looked at the Users Manual which is lacking. Ha! BTW for those curious as I was the r09 or r whatever is the buffer capacity left.
