50MM 1.8D vs 50MM 1.8G

Hey guys. I have a 50mm 1.8D that I got from a friend for pretty cheap. It's a great lens and takes great photos. Only problem is I have a D3200 so the 1.8D doesn't auto focus. I'm thinking of swapping it out for the AF-S 50MM 1.8G so that it'll auto focus. My question is, are both lenses comparable? I really like the photos I get the 1.8D. Is the G pretty much the same thing but with built-in focus motor? Or is the G even better?

I'd say very comparable, but DXO Mark gives the "G" version a slightly better overall score...

G is better than the D. better bokeh and edge to edge sharpness when stopped down a bit. but also it beats the 50 1.4g in sharpness (by a bit) and much faster AF as well. yes, the silent wave motor is built into the lens.
