newbies to D3100

Hi guys i am a newbies to nikon D3100 and plus i had just recently purchase a sigma 70-300 lens .
May i know what is the best setting for photographing wild life bird .

Welcome to the forum,best settings will vary depending on your taking situation and subject,its not something that can be answered in a quick post,i would make sure you have the lens stopped down a couple of stops,does the lens have stabilization built in,if not you may need to keep the iso up to giver you a decent shutter speed 300th or above.
Start with settings like this and see where it takes you.

Not bad for a first try,i think i would up the iso stop down to f8 and it may give you a faster shutter it looks a bit washed out,just played with it a bit
