Newbie question re taking movies

Hi,

Have recently bought the D3200 with the 18-55mm and 55-300mm kit lenses after having had a Panasonic FZ150 bridge camera.
Maybe I've missed something in the manual.
Can anyone tell me if you can take a movie with the D3200 using the viewfinder? If so, how? The manual only seems to mention using live view which I've used and tried but find the LCD screen difficult to see in sunshine. I have always preferred using the viewfinder for all photos.

Video can only work in live view because the sensor must remain exposed for the duration of the video. The design of a dslr is such that when the mirror is up to expose the sensor, the viewfinder is blocked by the raised mirror.
