Image Noise

I been taking pictures of my son and cannot figure out why I am getting noise in the pictures? You can see it on the right side of his forehead in the picture attached. I was in my living room around 10am and there was plenty of light. I am using a Nikon D5000 - Nikkor 35mm 1.8, ISO 200, Exposure time 1/10 sec, Fine - L, metering mode - pattern, no flash, white balance auto, active D-lighting off. Any and all suggestions would be much appreciated.

Matrix metering might help...If an image is under exposed this will increase noise...

Looks, more out of focus than noisy. At ISO200 there's next to no noise unless you crank up the exposure WAY above what camera even offers.

yes, looks out of focus. My 35mm gets a little sharper at f2. 1/10 second??? That could be a problem.

I think he shot in matrix. Lightroom calls matrix metering "pattern". Agree with Nickt that 1/10 sec is too slow. Try 1/60 or higher.

What they said. Plus I think the reflection of the blue from the mat he's on reflecting on the forehead doesn't help.
