Self timer Update

hi just received my self timer gadget today from ebay the shoot MC-36 Intervalometer fo£10.99 and its a great bit of kit. the selftmer allows you to take as many photos a you want a function which sadly is lacking in the d3100 and im sure it could have been added and saved money, but a cool thing, one thing im puzzled about is that it doesn't have an on/off switch so I take it you have to remove the batteries after every use, really bizarre.

Depends on which maker/model you're talking about. There's probably at least a dozen makers that make those things...

Some of them time-out automatically after a certain period of non-use; but not always. Some *do* require you removing the battery which, I agree seems really bone-headed, but also helps explain why it was only £10...
