"I really didn't like my point and shoot". I know exactly how you feel. Imagine this: I used to be a hobbyist back in the "old days" (1972-1987), and I had had a really nice cameras (at one point, even 3 Nikons: FM, FE and the big daddy of them all - F). Then I, STUPIDLY SOLD my "F", and after that I sold those two cameras too... Luckily, I did not sell ALL the lenses (I wasn't THAT stupid)...
With the beginning of the digital era, my interest in photography rose again, so I bought me a nice little 1 mpix Fuji and for a year or two I flattered myself to have a camera...And so on, and so on...
And when I for the first time got hold of a D40 (borrowed from a friend of mine), I new that "happy days are here again"!
