What is soft.

What are people saying when the Lens is soft?
Is that the photo or the glass that Lens use that
give a photo soft meaning?

Soft as opposed to Sharp; it means in regard to the focus or resolution and it's a relative thing.

You hear, for instance, "Lens X shows softness in the corners that lens Y does not."

A soft lense is not a good thing. It doesn't retain it's sharpness throughout the entire frame.

To me, soft also relates to one lack of focus, lens or photog we all get soft pictures, lack of sharpness so to speak or lack of detail clarity
