As you know I've got the Nikon 40mm f/2.8 G DX Micro and the AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G as well.

Now I am thinking of buying the nikon 35mm f/1.8g dx but I am not sure is this a really need cos of the near of my 40mm.

In my mind is also the Nikon 85mm f1.8G.

I don't know why but I feel pretty comfortable with prime lenses.

What is your idea?

I have the 35 f1.8, and I think it is a great lens, very versatile for a lot of jobs.

But because you have the 40 & the 50, maybe it would be too close to your other lenses.
Maybe a wider angle prime might be more suitable. I see 2nd hand 24 & 28 f2.8D's going for nice prices at times.

Echoing what Brad & Rick have said, the 40mm does the job well.
If you really need something at that focal length, the 28mm would be a better choice for the longer run.. awesome lens, slightly expensive

I will break from the rest. I have the 35mm, 40mm macro, and the 50mm. Of these three I would let my 50 mm go but would not go without my 35 & 40.

The 28mm FX lens was suggested and very expensive ~$700 compared to ~$200. With the crop factor of a DX camera your back at 40mm plus a couple.

Anyway, that's my two cents to further muddy the waters for you :)
