is there anyone who prefers 50mm 1.8D over 1.4D and 1.8G?

I am trying to decide a prime lens. Watched heaps of reviews. I love the look of the 1.8D and 1.8G;however, am aware the 1.8G is a very good lens too.
Is there anyone who is old school and likes the older design better? May I ask why or why not?

I can't say I 'prefer' the 50/1.8D over the others simply because I've never shot with the others.

But when I chose a prime, I put size & weight over the other two, and the 2/3 stop difference of the 1.4 wasn't enough to sway me given the high ISO capabilities of cameras these days.

That said, my 50/1.8D is a champ. I also have the luxury of using it reversed for macro shooting, something that's impossible to do with G lenses.

Adam - I've owned and used each of these lenses and now use the Nikon 50mm f1.8G. It is optically better when it comes to the current Nikon 50mm category. I would spend the extra money to get one.

50mm 1.8D. AUD$157. Best bang for your buck lens there is!

You can count me in. I prefer the 50 1.8D to all the others. I just feel it is a tad sharper and a must lens for both fx and dx shooters.
