Yes. But unless it says AF-S it won't auto focus. It should still be able to focus manually though.

Thanks for the quick replies. This is on e bay and I am looking for a macro lens. I am a relative newcomer to the world of photography but love to see the shots achieved by macro.

if you are serious about shooting macro you should be prepared to use manual focus for good results. what kind of subjects do you have in mind?

If you have AF, you can always turn it off.
If you don't, then there is only one choice. :)

I am not at 1:1 that much, so I normally do AF. But on the extreme closeups, you do often need to focus a bit more deep into the depth of field, not on the front surface.
