D3000 + sb-r200

Hello,

Will the D3000 built in flash trigger SB-R200 speed-light? I have read somewhere that it should but it's not working for me. Will I need to purchase commander unit? What is the cheapest variant for the above set-up to work?

The SB-R200 is triggered by a commander. Some camera models (say D7100) have a commander in the internal flash, but the D3000 does not.

You could add a Nikon SU-800 commander on the D3000 hot shoe ($250), and it will trigger the SB-R200 for you.

Or, a SB-700, SB-800, SB-900 flash on the hot shoe has a commander which will do it, but they may cost more, and the SU-800 has advantages.

Or, the Nikon R1C1 is a kit for SU-800 and two SB-R200.
