Travel lens suggestion?

What I carry:
D7000
35mm 1.8
50mm 1.8
70-300mm f/4.5-5.6
18-105mm f/3.5-5.6 (kit lens)

I've been mostly using kit lens when I travel but wanted more zoom since changing to 70-300 takes bit of time and lose that few second to capture my shot.

So I've been shopping around for that one lens I can depend on when I travel. Then I read about 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6. I am thinking this is probably better than my kit lens and equal or better than my 70-300mm. My concern is, I will eventually want to move onto Full Frame Camera like D800E and want to make sure 18-300 is also a good choice for D800E when I travel (amazon compatible chart says this may not work with D800E) but says 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 work with both DX/FX.)

I've been keeping my eye on 28-70mm f/2.8, 70-200m f/2.8 when I get D800E. I also want to purchase flash. Been eyeing SB700 instead of SB910.

What are your thoughts and thank you for your advises :)

the 18-300vr is not as good as the 70-300vr. plus the 18-300 is dx format. the 70-300vr is fx.

You already got all the range covered! I wonder how often you will need the 300 when traveling. I did bring along my 70-300 but hardly get to use it. Most times, it is my 17-50 that is doing all the works.

I would stick with what you have until you switch to FX. After that, sell the Dx lenses and get what you want. You've listed some good Fx choices, all in one lenses have compromises.
