D800 + Samyang Cine 35 T1.5 - Ring clicks in Video Live view!

Fellow Nikonites,

I've been looking for an answer everywhere, with no success.

It's quite a strange one: got the new Samyang Cine 35mm T1.5.

Aperture ring doesn't click, all very smooth - one of the reason i bought it in the 1st place.

It's fine in Photo live view mode, but if i switch to video live view and then turn the aperture ring, it starts clicking! As if the camera was artificially creating the click. Why would you do that d800?

Kinda beats the purpose of the lens... Any setting I'm missing?

Thanks for your help

This problem happens if you have filled manually the information for manual lenses (the f number and focal inside the menu). Just select no info for the lens (ie. select an empty bank with no info for manual lenses, not deleting the info that you can use for stills by selecting again the bank with the info), and the click should disappear. Of course, you lose the info about f number, but also lose the annoying noise.
Regards.

I've always been curious on how the cine lenses provides when it comes to still images.

I was going to suggest the same thing and treat it as a non-cpu lens.
