Well, I dropped my D7000 with my 18-105mm lens.

The lens broke off the body and the adapter ring on the lens is snapped. Do you guys know if that piece is replaceable or is the lens garbage?

looks like there is a bunch of Phillips screws that hold that RING on.

Let me know your thoughts.

I put my 50mm 1.8 on and camera works fine from what I can tell lol.

It's a shame someone does not make a METAL bayonet for that (or other Nikkors with plastic bayonets) lens. I am still dumbstruck that Nikon would make a bayonet out of PLASTIC!!! That sounds to me like something Canon or Minolta would do, but not Nikon

Be careful about the so called universal fit bayonet mounts online.

Sent mine to Nikon to be fixed. $120.

Well.

i received my bayonet from "hong kong" that I ordered from eBay.

Removed the broken one and replaced it with the new one and everything is fine. Lens fits nice and snug on the body, auto focus works as does manual, zooms no problem.

I think I got lucky on this drop, I'll make sure my strap goes over my shoulder from now on.

Heres the link if you ever need one.

Glad that repair worked out for you. I don't much like plastic lens mounts. That being said that plastic mount may have saved your camera. Better the lens mount on your kit lens than the cameras mount being damaged in the fall.
