How do you convert a NEF files to a jpeg ?

The program that came with your camera VeiwNX2 will convert it. If you are not planing to doing much post processing then you can set your camera to just shoot in JPEG or you can shoot in JPEG + RAW

You also have the option to convert the NEFs to JPEG in the camera. You can find it in the retouch menu.

It allows some control of the conversion such as fixing exposure, WB, color.
