Good evening all - My name is John, originally from Scotland now residing in Kent, England and working (still) in London as an IT Manager for Capgemini. Started life as a Mech Engineering apprentice in the coal mines. At the tender age of 22 joined the British Army enlisting into the Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers as an Instrument Technician rising to the rank of WO1 (ASM) Artificer Optronics. On retiring after 22 years joined the Met Police to became a "London Bobby" for 10 years, on leaving (retirement) I joined Capgemini and should have retired at Xmas 2012, but due to popular demand continued working. Started serious photography in my early teens, encouraged by my late father, unfortunately during my Army career it became a lot less of a hobby although I took the occasional photograph even of some friendly and some not so friendly individuals at work, rest and play. For Xmas some of the family gave me some gift vouchers as I had been dropping hints about getting into serious photography again in my twilight years as Brands Hatch Motor Racing circuit is on my door step so that enabled me to go and buy my new Nikon D3200. I have since very quickly added to my collection with a Tamron 70 - 300mm lens. Next on the list will be a decent tripod or monopod. To help me get back into shooting seriously I will be picking brains and seeking lots of advice to those that have the knowledge and experience, all critiques will be taken in the manner I am sure it will be intended to help me get that magic picture. In advance a great big thank you to all.
