hi im also new to this site...When using a lens like the 55-200 with VR, brace your elbows against your chest, take a deep breath, and while you're slowly breathing out, press....don't push.....the shutter button gently. This will control the camera "shake" that naturally happens when hand holding. When taking pictures with a tripod, turn off the VR. By the way, your post starts off with a question about the 55-300....then you ask about the 55-200. Either way, they will both work very well with your D3100.
okay... thanksHello Sahara from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. A beautiful country to photograph. If you would go to the "New Member Introduction" forum and give us a brief introduction of your self. This is where we welcome all of our new members. Also please complete your profile with a little information about yourself, your camera, lenses and any other equipment you are using. That will help us help you with any questions you may have. The D3100 is a great camera and this is the place to ask questions about its functions and how to use it. This is also a fun site, so enjoy.
